Shinyhooves – level 80 prot/holy paladin

A long time ago, me and a bunch of friends planned to level chars together. It never works out, so it only lasted until level 20ish. However, I found the paladin a really fun class, so I decided to carry on leveling together with my boyfriend’s baby shaman.

I had tried tanking on my warrior but never really enjoyed it, but I blamed it on the learning curve: trying to learn it in TBC heroics was a painful experience. I figured that tanking from day 1 would be much easier, and I was right. Shiny was retri for leveling, tanked instances, and from level 68 basically only leveled in dungeons as tank.

At level 76 I changed the offspec to holy, because I like healing in general and I wanted to see how it feels on a pally. So far, it’s scary and I miss my HoTs, but I’m sticking with it. (Having tank and healer specs also means I get groups in under 30 seconds.)

She hit 80 on January 1st and the plan is to make her my PuG character and get her geared enough to tank or heal guild alt runs.

Edit [August 23, 2010]: Tanking is easier if you learn it while leveling; tanking is still unpleasant. I have decided that I gave it a short, I got enough gear to not be able to blame my failing on that, and I still don’t like being in the spotlight. Tanking is not my thing.

Even though she was meant as my healer PuG character, I never felt confident enough with pally healing, so I only healed guild raids. Big Holy Lights are fun, but I miss HoTs and AoE heals and I don’t enjoy pally healing enough to want to master it.

In short, I suck at paladining and Shiny is pretty much shelved since my shaman Aushra hit 80.
