Good news, everyone. We’ve saved Azeroth again.
Nothing interesting here. Go look at some gnomes.
If you insist on staying, here’s a story of what my sexy druid has done over the past week or so. I find blog posts like this pretty boring, but I’m not aiming to educate the masses or anything, this is meant to be a nice reminder for myself.
First off, after battling the boss of people-not-signing-up (I’m guilty as charged), we finally killed Putricide on 25-man. I don’t have a kill picture, but here’s what the raid looked like when he died. Most of the DPS probably died because no one was healing – I was spam Nourishing the tank and praying I don’t run OOM before he dies, no time for hotting. He died right as the last bits of my mana were draining and Vent got LOUD. I don’t think I’ve heard cheers so loud since SSC.

Then, we figured we might as well schedule a run to kill Algalon. “Yeah, right, us kill Algalon,” Jen thinks. Our last tries (admittedly, months ago) had not been terribly successful.
Now we were prepared for wiping for an hour, made sure everyone knew they needed to run back ASAP… wiped once, and got him down on the second attempt. Turns out a tier of gear does make a difference. Of course, it’s not near as impressive as killing him in Ulduar stuff… but it still felt damn good.

Sidenote: I LOVE the animation he does when you engage him. Love it. While the raid was busy going “ughhh it makes me sick” I was staring dreamily into the tunnel of stars and wishing it lasted longer. I wish I could get it as a screensaver…

So, he died. He died so fast I didn’t even realize we’d killed him, I kept expecting the fight to get harder and then people were cheering. Wait what?
I won the quest item, so I got to talk to Rhonin, get an Abyss Crystal and start the light show! Even months after Ulduar was old news, people in Dalaran were excited and asking who’d killed Algalon. (Including a guildie of ours who apparently wasn’t paying attention to /gchat.) After the recent trouble with sign-ups and people failing at easy fights, doing something cool as a guild was very nice.

Yes, I’m wearing the wrong title
So Algalon was dead, and this was supposed to be the end of the night – I had work to do -, but our RL suggested going back and doing some achievements. How could I refuse…
To make a long story short, I’m one achievement away from the drake I never thought I’d get. We 1-shot most encounters (even Firefighter), despite the fact that a certain tree was asleep during half of them. Literally asleep, as in casting WG and closing my eyes, waking up when someone talked on Vent. Ironically, I got my Vezax hard mode achievement at the same time as Vezax normal, finally completing my Ulduar 10-man meta… I had only done the fight once, in 25-man. The ups and downs of joining a guild mid-progression – I never saw the skippable bosses and spent many nights wiping on Yogg.
We stopped at mr. Cthulhu-wannabe – partly because by the end I was reduced to sleepy mumbles on Vent -, so he’s the only one standing between me and a pretty drake I’ll never use unless they make it insta-summon too… while my poor pally is still using the ugly CoS mount, of course.
In the end, some druid eye-candy.
Exhibit no. 1, our guild’s other tree, strangely still shapedshifted on a motorcycle.

Exhibit no. 2, your host, who totally didn’t spend 10 minutes taking pictures of herself with her new title and the pretty, pretty leaves of Wild Growth.

Congratulations!
Also may I make a suggestion?
If you enable “center text 2″ indicator in Grid you can have both the name *and* health deficency displayed at the same time (I do like hard numbers)
Added bonus, you then also can make it display both Name AND Dead. For naming and shaming on killshots =D

Gratz! I think it’s great. Algalon is a cool boss and Starcaller is a lovely title. And it’s your blog – so say whatever you want. I for one love to read of people having success and fun in the game just as much as I like to read about theorycrafting and stuff. I love the pretty end screenie :)

Meka, thanks. I know that, but I’m also terribly lazy. I have at least 3 different but mostly similar Grid setups for my chars and I keep telling myself I’ll tweak them all to look the same… and I never do it. My druid’s doesn’t show health deficit, my pally’s does, I’m pretty sure something somewhere also has the two lines of text… Le sigh.
And the only naming and shaming should come my way :P I was on raid, and I sure as hell didn’t heal the raid for the last minute or so of the fight.
Sephrenia, I was actually thinking of you while doing Algalon. Your post convinced me it might be possible even if some of us had never done it before.

Ooh purty leaf shower! I’ll often just WG folks as we’re running back from a wipe just because I like the animation. But I’ve never looked this closely at the WG animation. I love it!
And grats on Algalon!

I’m jealous you wiped less than us.
Our raid had a sucidal ret pally and our tanks seemed to object to announce when they were taunting :)
What part of the meta do you miss for the rusted drake?

I feed on your jealousy :P At least sometimes we can be better than other people…
I’m only missing Yogg+1, we had to stop because of sleepy tree, but I hope I’ll get it next week, there’s another run scheduled.

Argh again this week – 4wipes because I brought people who had never done the fight before. First attempt got into phase 2 only for one of the tanks to phase himself, other tank takes the last phase punch and ends up there too :( It would have been the “He feeds on your tears achievement too”
Currently a load of us are farming for Herald of the titans. Fun!

My boyfriend’s guild is gathering gear for Herald… I doubt we’ll try since, honestly, we don’t have the skill to do it, or the dedicated people to work their asses off until they learn the fight.

Haha, it’s not THAT bad. Doing the stars will probably be the hard part which I’m not relishing.
Without the dps advantage we have I guess I’ll have to handle stars longer because I tend to let the last set we get at the moment tick out because we get him into the third phase before they die. The title is so rare its worth it in my opinion.
Luckily we have a tank with ancient gear who came back who is pretty much set for Heralds due to when he actively played last :D The rest of the people just suck at throwing out their old gear.

Well, I remember our last round of tries (in ToC gear) and it was… fail. I don’t think I managed to *not* fuck up more than 2 tries. I still don’t know how I managed to die on the portals then or how I survived now. I’m just happy it happened. We’ve got a new run for tomorrow but seeing as there’s 17 signups for a 10-man raid, I doubt I’m on the team :)

Now I have a new goal for my baby druid: WG screenshots of EVERYTHING.
Seriously, congrats!
