So, Lich King has hit and it’s wonderful. We all love it and it’s improved the content Blizzard has given us so far but 100% - that is fine to say for those of us who are there and are enjoying the cold reaches of Arthas’ domain, but what of those who haven’t?

After TBC hit we saw a massive influx of people to Hellfire Peninsula, abandoning their posts in Azeroth to go on a killing spree looking for some old Night Elf Daemon Hunter. The dark portal flooded with bodies intermingled with each other; both Alliance and Horde who all wanted to go and see the new realm of Draenor.

Yes, there were hitches but it gave a good standing for the upcoming 1.5 years, which for me included some of the best raiding experience I have ever had with my Alonsopolitan guild.

No one I know in game can deny TBC gave us some excellent content free from skill level. The fight with Moroes was every bit as challenging and fun as the Kael’Thas fight when you were at equal gear level to the fight. However, never did I hear someone begging to go raid MC or Naxx. With the latter returning will we see that feeling emerge in raiders, or will as has been the case previously dungeons only be wanted in the case that you can level cooking there or there is some rare quest.

At the time of writing this I am sitting in Felwood herbing while my guild emerges into Northern Azeroth, describing how good LK is to those of us who can’t be there (due to Amazon’s lack of deliveries to Glasgow.) And I wonder, will TBC be ignored now? We have no use for Shattrath and there is no gear to be found that can match the lowest blues from level 80.

I myself will miss certain encounters from this period and believe we should not be so quick to abandon the place that gave use days’ worth of fun and IMO love in the way it helped us to our place in raiding!

TBC should not be forgotten and it is up to those who loved it to not let it be trodden upon by Blizz and Northrend. I say this while being abandoned in EK due to a significant lack of Expansions within my house, but will my tune change in a few days time? It probably will, but I like to think some of us will care for TBC that little bit more than LK, after all… it was the second place we ever dinged full level, let’s just hope being the best for a third time doesn’t get old!

Since in a previous post Jen showed all of the importance of looks in WoW, I feel like I need to tell you the importance of cleanliness. So here is the story of a pretty dirty me.

I was a happy 50ish girl druid that always wandered what made all the mobs attack me even from the greatest distances. I have heard of aggro range and level differences but that did not quite explain the number of mobs that ususally decided to do some target practice with me.

Since the monsters on the same area were not enough, I even called monsters from far away places like the Lurker Below.

After a while I realised that something very wrong happened to me. I began to grow larger and had an orange glow all around me. Imagine how hard was for me to even enter a room. I had to dismount my trusty sabertooth because we were to big. (yes even my sabertooth had the same problems as me)

And eventually I began to have a stink cloud all around me. That stink started to attact a horde of undead warriors all around the land. (I am sorry to have caused all this fuss with the invasion and such).

So it was decided (against my will I might add - the guild and friends insisted, they were tired of helping me get out of troubles caused by my stink aggro) that I need to clean myself. Since I was a druid the first ideea was to use one of the moon wells that were around. Unfortunatelly my stink caused the water to come to a boil and we had to try ever harder methods like magic.

But all that was for nothing. The stink was still presend and now zombies started to appear everywhere I went. No place was safe from them. Then I remembered an old story a dwarf friend once told me. It was a story about their sacred fire of Ironforge so I decided to give it one more try.

And that did the trick. Now I look charming again as you can see from the picture below, I get a nice critical chance and I can go into Outland as a lvl 50ish druid.

So remember: from time to time do visit Ironforge and take a bath in the hot lava. You will feel much better after this.

Reading Sirg’s post and looking at the GM’s less than impressive clothes, I remembered my own beautiful red-and-white robe. And then I remembered the awful truth: last night I got a better drop… which looks so ugly.

Let’s compare.
First, the Robe of Power, lovingly crafted by myself.
55 Armor
+12 Intellect
+8 Spirit
Requires Level 33
Equip: Increases damage and healing done by magical spells and effects by up to 14.

Jnee in Robe of Power

Then there’s the Silksand Tunic.
58 Armor
+5 Spirit
+16 Intellect
Requires Level 39

Jnee in Silksand Tunic

Can you see the problem here? I like that extra intellect on the tunic, but oh my God it’s ugly! I look like a naked draenei, everything is brownish and you can see that space goats weren’t made to ride a tiger because their posture is awkward when mounted (the robe hides that pretty well).

I never had this problem on my warrior. All plate gear is more of less the same, no pretty colors or patterns or anything. But it looks there’s more issues with playing a caster than I imagined…

So, how important should fashion be in-game? It’s clear the developers thought about it, otherwise there wouldn’t be so many pointless items like different colored shirts or a wedding dress. But should it influence gearing or not? Is that 0.2% extra stat worth it or not?

So far, my answer is “no, it isn’t”. I’m sticking with the robe. I have to look at my mage all day and I’d rather see something I like.
(And no, it’s not a girly thing, I have male guildies who agree with me.)

Where I’m from (i.e Cthulu guild), we get bored easily. So what happens when Cthulu gathers up some guildies, ex-guildies and friends for some old-school Molten Core raiding? The train happens.

After we downed a couple of bosses and got ourselves some imba T1, part of the raid had to go off for half an hour to finish some quest. Then one of us noticed someone else had put follow and left… So what to do with the tag-along guy? Throwing him into a crevice seemed too difficult (and dangerous for the followee), but the sight of them shuffling along after each other gave me an idea, so I put follow on the second guy. And, 5 minutes later, we had the Cthulu train choo-choo-ing through Molten Core.

We made a nice orderly line and walked around for 15 minutes or so…

I’m leveling another mage now, on Emeriss. I started it 1 week ago and I spent my first days in the sunny Barrens, with its unforgettable chat.

And as I walked in, the first lines of chat I saw were something like:

Player X: Ding!

Player A: Fuck off!!

Player B: omg /ignore…

Player C: ffs…

Player D: /care

Player E: just shut up and play!

Player F: @@#!!

Player G: lmao, owned by maturity filter

Player H: Swe anyone?

….. and intrigued by these vivid reactions I defended verbally the poor dinger asking whats so wrong about announcing proudly that you’re a level 13 or so.

The only coherent response I got is that “he keeps dinging!”

Which is quite understandable, considering that you can get a character from 1 to 20 in only few hours if you put a bit of brain into it as well.

By the time I logged out, the dinging thing had dinged again 3 times already, thanks to some WC boost. Now I have no conclusion or personal opinion about the fact, as I still respond /1 Grats! every time someone says Ding, however the mass hysteria he created was priceless.

Jen giving me real life instructions last evening: “Dinner is in the oven and I won’t be here. When you hear the oven going ‘DING’ you go and take the food out, not just yell ‘GRATZ!!’, OK?”

Ever since Patric told me about this blog I’ve been wondering, what can I write? Sure there have been many things I’ve seen that made me laugh, cry, or wonder about the fate of the humanity, during the years I have been playing WoW, but I never kept book or wrote down anything. Because new stuff comes up each day, so I thought, but suddenly things do look a little different. Many people are busy with hollidays-related activities and even more are bored to death waiting for the new expansion.

With this in mind I wasn’t very optimistic in regards of my writing, so I decided to take a look at the WoW realm forums, who knows, maybe I can dig up something. I didn’t even need to search more than the first page, and there it comes, a post from a player named, let’s say, Quaffle.

Title: Help Quaffle with his problems! Episode 1

Dear <server name>

OMG!!!!!!!!!!!!! I CANT BELIEVE I WAS SO STUPID!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1

so last nite i came home from a nite out and i ordered some indian from the local (THE FOOD NOT THE NATIONALITY LOL). i ate most of it and fell asleep. the next day i got back from a day out with the boys, was a little drunk, sat down in front of the tv and proceeded to wolf down the rest of the curry that had been sitting there for 20 hours.

ANYWAY IM NOT FEELING SICK RITE NOW but will i get sick????? i cant believe i did this its so stupid lol. what if sum flies touched it????? what if they laid eggs on the food???? will i get infested with maggots/???? GROSS!!!!!! what if the fly picked up a flea containing a secondary parasitic cyst from a dog infected with tapeworm, landed on my food, laid eggs, dropped off the flea and then i ate the curry and the flea and the eggs and got food poisoning and maggots and tapeworm??????????

PLSSSSSSSSSSSSS HELP

urs gratefully,

Quaffle

****

I was at first tempted to leave it as it is with a “no comment” tag, but I can’t help quoting a few responses.

Some of them decissive:

You will die.Try to speed up the process.”

Some of them mild and craving for more:

…./soothe

you will be ok - the alcohol in your system will kill any bugs :o) x

… so this is episode 1 - when do we get episode 2 ”

Others, very technical:

“Iceblock and you’ll lose the debuff”.

And finally, some of them standing up for the weak:

Well tbh honest I am more concerned about the poor fly/flea!

There it was looking for a nice and safe home to set up its fleafly family and it ends up on some below-par, alcohol imbued, sub-continent takeaway that you had be dribbling over just the night before!

I mean, thats no place to try and bring up flea kids is it?

I suggest someone set up a charity immediately in order to provide much needed medical aid and healthcare facilities for the poor insects that have found themselves in this terrible, hostile environment.

Members of their family will ofc be kept informed as the real cost of this tragedy becomes clear to the wider fly/flea community

With sympathy x ”

Now I must admit my sympathy is tempted to go with the flies as well - they might be annoying in the summer but they’re certainly easier to get rid of… Stay tuned for futher adventure from WoW planet, until then I’ll keep an eye on our hero, in case he survives.
